PVS-14 Mono-Goggle, Gen 3 Autogated/Pinnacle 10Yr Hand Select

When making the decision to purchase a night vision device, I considered a number of other retailers. My intended use for this technology was twofold: I wanted this for my own entertainment, to see the stars and for general outdoor navigation, as well as for use in case of a power outage or related scenarios. I ended up deciding, for a variety of reasons that are beyond the scope of this review, that the other companies were simply not for me; after all, when spending such a large sum of money, I knew I needed to buy from a retailer that not only offers the best deal, but also stands behind their products and deals in a professional manner. I found that the NightVision4Less staff -- especially Eli, with whom I conversed -- were quite pleasant and willing to work with me to answer all of my questions and concerns and ensure I receive the optimal product within my specified budget. While I will respectfully not disclose the exact price I paid for my unit (so that NightVision4Less does not feel compelled to always sell at that same price), I can assure you that it was a more-than-fair deal, especially given the quality of this product. Upon receiving the unit, my initial observation was that the device is rather sturdy and made of very high-quality plastics; this thing is built like a tank and feels like it could easily take a tumble with stride and continue working. Briefly testing it in a darkened room, I was in awe of the image quality that this optic is capable of producing. The tube appears perfectly clean, with no blemishes of any kind visible. Later into the night, when it became dark indoors, with minimal light seeping in through windows, I once again tested the unit and found that it can transform even the darkest of conditions into a view that would convince anyone that it's daylight, only in shades of green. Granted, since this is a monocular, depth perception will be compromised, but with ample practice, an individual can learn to work around that limitation. The following day, once I'd had the chance to familiarize myself with the device's operation, I tested it outdoors, and it handled the plentiful street lights in my area brilliantly. This is exactly why I opted for a Pinnacle tube -- the best of the best, just like I wanted. Simply put, the unit produces stunning images both in the darkest of shadows and under the brightest-lit urban streets. Although the performance of the unit is exceptional, I have encountered a number of minor problems in terms of accessories. The first thing is the eyecup: Unfortunately, it gathers dust plentifully, forcing me to take it off. Perhaps this may not be as much of an issue for some, but I found it detracted from the aesthetics of the unit, and since the eyecup is not a total necessity, I opted to forego its use. Another minor frustration involved the demist shield; I wanted to use it to protect the lens but was simply unable -- hard as I may have tried -- to press it into the eyepiece, as directed in the manual. I have also been considering using an ACT amber filter, both to protect the lens and for curiosity to see how the yellow tint affects the image. However, in order to do so, I would need to be able to unscrew the eyepiece-retaining ring, which I just have not been able to do either. Given the device's superior build quality, I was not expecting these things, but as a whole, because they do not impact usage of the system in a significant way, I can generally forgive them. Is it worth it to spend this amount of money on military-grade night vision equipment? In my eyes, the answer is a resounding yes. If anyone out there is reading this, whether you are interested in night vision for enjoyment or for more serious applications, I can confidently recommend this PVS-14 in addition to NightVision4Less overall. Update: As confirmed by the manufacturer, the eyecup-retaining ring is glued with Loctite onto the eyepiece assembly. However, I was able to get the ring unscrewed by sending the device to them. They did it for free (except the cost of shipping it to them that I was willing to pay) and were very quick in their turnaround. Thus, if you think you are ever going to want to screw anything onto the eyepiece, I'd recommend asking if they can do away with the glue from the get-go so that you can leave that possibility open.

Images are crystal clear, free of any major obstructions. Lightweight and very portable makes it ideal for various uses. A major factor in my going with this model is that it is backed by a 10 year warranty. WELL worth it to pay a little more to get the hand-select tubes - you will not regret it! I bought the PVS-14 Gen 3 AGM-HS several months ago. I have used it several times and it performs as advertised. High quality image, stable, clear and well made. Monocular is crystal clear and a pleasure to use. The Hand Select version yielded high quality numbers (e.g. SNR and resolution). This kind of image quality paired with a 10 year warranty was well worth the expense for me. The company representative gave me great advise before my purchase and I would recommend NV4Less to anyone in the market for NVGs.

I had just come off of a purchase of a night vision product from someone else that was totally the wrong one for me. I sent it back. Your web site helped me learn what I needed to know about this technology. I bought a PVS-14 Gen 3 and am really happy with it. I live on a golf course and was looking for something to give me an edge in home security. With this device I can see like it is daylight for hundreds of yards out there on a dark night.
